چکیده
Bicuspid aortic valve (BAV) patients are usually excluded from transcatheter implantation (TAVI) as this anatomy likely leads to oval expansion. This study presents a numerical of TAVI using both self-expanding and balloon expandable heart (THV) in bicuspid with severe stenosis. The simulation framework included patient-specific the root, calcifications BAV leaflets extracted medical imaging analysis well realistic crimping deployment THV. Tissue stress highlighted local maxima contact area between inner lumen THV stent frame. Flow based on smoothed particle hydrodynamics (SPH) technique displayed at risk paravalvular leakage (PVL). These findings provide insights thus represents further step towards use in-silico for virtual planning TAVI, aiming improving not only efficacy but also exploration borderline case BAVs.

Options for transcatheter aortic valve implantation: comparing self-expanding with balloonexpandable valves The advent of transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI) has offered clinicians the option of managing patients with severe symptomatic aortic stenosis, who are at high operative risk, the possibility of replacing the aortic valve without requiring a full open-heart surgery. Two techn...

BACKGROUND Paravalvular leakage (PVL) is a known complication of transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI) and is associated with poor outcome. Besides balloon-post-dilatation, valve-in-valve (ViV) procedures can be taken into consideration to control this complication. Herein we present initial experience with use of the latest generation balloon-expandable Edwards Sapien 3® (S3) transcat...
متن کاملComparison of balloon-expandable vs self-expandable valves in patients undergoing transcatheter aortic valve replacement: the CHOICE randomized clinical trial.
IMPORTANCE Transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) is an effective treatment option for high-risk patients with severe aortic stenosis. Different from surgery, transcatheter deployment of valves requires either a balloon-expandable or self-expandable system. A randomized comparison of these 2 systems has not been performed. OBJECTIVE To determine whether the balloon-expandable device is...
متن کاملComparison of balloon-expandable valves versus self-expandable valves in high-risk patients undergoing transcatheter aortic valve replacement for severe aortic stenosis.
BACKGROUND Transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI) has emerged as an alternative to surgical aortic valve replacement for patients with symptomatic severe aortic stenosis (AS) who have a high surgical risk. In Taiwan, this is the first study reporting TAVI outcomes at a single center offering two different transcatheter heart valve technologies via four types of approaches. Our aim was t...
متن کاملMatched Comparison of Self-Expanding Transcatheter Heart Valves for the Treatment of Failed Aortic Surgical Bioprosthesis
Background—Transcatheter valve-in-valve implantation is an established therapy for high-risk patients with failed surgical aortic bioprosthesis. There are limited data comparing outcomes of valve-in-valve implantation using different transcatheter heart valves (THV). Methods and Results—Patients included in the Valve-in-Valve International Data registry (VIVID) and treated with selfexpanding TH...
